One of the major annual open-air events will be held again on the Elagin Island in St. Petersburg on 9-10 August, 2014. This time the Festival will be supported by PayPal and will be even more grandiose confirming its status of the unique Russian science festival.

GEEK PICNIC is the biggest science and technology Festival in Russia. This summer it will be held with the support of PayPal which is world’s largest online payment system. GEEK PICNIC is an absolutely special place for intelligent, highly-educated people who are really passionate about what they do. The Festival’s extraordinary atmosphere has become a center where the future is being created, incredible discoveries are made and surprising acquaintances and meetings take place.

At the 3D Printing Zone there will be a food-creating and tattoo-making equipment, giant printers for real furniture producing, Art Installations, robots’ park, the first in Russia 3D Print Fashion Show by the company 3Dprintus.ru. During the Festival there will take place 60 lectures and seminars by the Russian scientists, guru of the world of technology, artists and creators; 30 master-classes dedicated to the robotics and personal art; table games, summer activities on grass, etc. Also there will be represented more than 30 restaurants of different types: burgers, falafel, cupcakes, pasta, sushi and various cocktails. 

The visit of Jonathan LeBlanc, the Global Head of Developer Evangelism at PayPal and an Emmi Award Winner, will be the key event of the Festival. He will make a lecture on the future of online payments and global network in general, and also he will represent his suggestions on our life in future and which technologies we will use.

In 2014 the Festival will take a huge territory of 20 000 square meters and will be traditionally divided into the zones of Technologies, Science, Art, Picnic, Expo and Market. This year the Festival which has already become one of the symbols of St. Petersburg is waiting for more than 25 000 guests. We are absolutely sure that everyone will find something special for themselves – and it could be anything from scientific disputes and a giant robot controlling to playing with a frisbee in a grass field.
