BM’s Watson Discovery Advisor supercomputer may be game changer. It will speed up scientific breakthroughs, IBM has said.
The most-talked about Watson supercomputer has been enhanced by the IBM. Known for its appearance on the quiz show “Jeopardy,” the Watson supercomputer for long has been the talk of scientist community.
And it has been understood that the enhancing has only taken place in an attempt by the IBM to speed up the pace of scientific breakthroughs. Following this development now all eyes are going to be on it. This week was important for IBM and many who have been monitoring development. The Watson Discovery Advisor (WDA) was unveiled by IBM.
It is understood that it has the potential to understand the sophisticated language of science. The biggest value addition has been that the WDA is well equipped to even understand how chemical compounds interact.
John Gordon, vice president of IBM’s Watson Group, said: “Watson has moved to helping researchers investigate the great unknown problems of our time. This whole space around Watson and technology is trying to push forward innovations.” If we believe what IBM is making claim then the fact of the matter is that the Discovery Advisor could turn to be extremely useful for scientists who spent months and days to test hypotheses and formulate conclusions.
